Carolyne Hallums Art

Carolyne Hallums Art

It's been a dream of mine for quite some time to create something, anything. I love it. Two years ago I had a dream to open a popup shop in my home which eventually with the help of my husband, moved to his shed and that was when my desire to keep things moving with my art began. I had a wonderful experience with meeting Lorna Jane from Auld Alliance Merchants through this shop who supported my dream.

Then the world of Instagram and the friends I have met there, my journey began.  It was slow and it was all experimental and I had my ups and downs - on our Summer holiday I was ready to pack it in and forget about the art world and concentrate on getting a full time job. BUT, then I had a gorgeous girl purchase one of my pieces and then I have not looked back.  I am by all means not an artist yet but I hope to be one day. This is all trials and errors and the best thing about this is that you can paint over any of your mistakes, the bad art and keep going.

I don't have a fancy website or an online shop of such but I do have the manual system of emails etc. - so please, if you like anything or want to ask some questions please email me and I will be more than happy to discuss with you. I do hope to get a website up soon but that all takes time and that time is taken away from my painting time which is so precious to me at the moment.

2015 - the year to SHINE.

Each year I select one word to help me stay on top, to keep going and keep myself motivated. This year I have chosen the word "SHINE" - I want to make this year bigger and brighter. I love art and I love creating art although sometimes it frustrates me to no end but this is what my passion is. I am learning with each piece and I can feel myself growing with the mistakes and the constant battle in my head (procrastinating). I have so many plans for Within My World for the coming year - I hope you take this journey with me.

* being crafty

Melbourne is still turning on the weather charm and I am feeling very lucky to have the day off to enjoy it. The nights are getting cooler and darker earlier, so I am going to enjoy every last minute of what's left over from summer. Although I do love autumn and all that it brings and all the gorgeous colours of the leaves that you see on many road trips. Today also marks the first day of school break and at 11.11am, my school girl is still in dream land....she told me not to wake her today but I want to get the day started and not waste it. I have done all the washing I needed to do and it's basking in the sun, I have done my walk which keeps this 40 something body upgraded (trying anyhow)....I am waiting!!! What else, mmmm let me think. We are taking a short trip to Sydney over Easter and as much as I am looking forward to it, I do get anxious when it comes to packing. I hate it, would rather pay someone to come and do it for me - wouldn't that be nice. I hate trying to co-ordinate matching outfits with limited items and you always end up not taking the right shoes. I have a big trip coming up in July and I know I will be freaking out trying to get organised for that one. But it will be nice to go away with the family minus one boy who seems to think he is now too old to hang with his family. Not cool at all. I want those days back when they were small. They were so much more adorable back then. Anyway's - I will go and find something else to do ...until next time....enjoy your weather.

With love.....

This girl, out of the goodness of her heart stayed up late last night and baked cupcakes to bring to school today......a few of her girlfriends decided to raise money for Haiti. They all baked and made crafts to sell at school without any prompting from teachers, parents or community. It was just something they thought of at lunch time one day. She didn't think the cupcakes would sell but when I picked her up from school all the containers where empty....and I was even told that people where buying them for more than what she was selling them for. I love this kid and all that she stands for. She has a beautiful heart and I pray this stays with her forever. You make your mother proud kid.

We are planning a trip to this gorgeous city by the bay. I can hear the song now and I can't wait. We will be visiting here, San Francisco and then Vancouver and then down to Los Angeles for a visit with friends. The fantastic thing is that I get to share this with my daughter and we are going because we got a gorgeous invite to attend a wedding. How can you not go??? So, so excited. Lots to plan and it's only a few months lucky.
